The AI Hokusai Art + AI residency is a two-month experimental online laboratory where selected artists collaborate and explore the intersection of artificial intelligence and traditional art forms. Participants will engage in hands-on workshops, public discussions, and masterclasses, creating works using AI tools while reflecting on the project’s central themes. The residency will culminate in a virtual exhibition (2025) showcasing these AI-driven creations.
The AI Hokusai Open Call is an international contest to select artists for an online residency program as part of the AI Hokusai ArtTech Research Project.
During two months (from mid-October to mid-December), it will combine an intensive educational program of applied workshops with the preparation of individual and collective artworks for the final virtual exhibition. Throughout the residency, its organizers will conduct a research study by observing and analyzing the process from cultural, technological, anthropological and philosophical points of view.
The results will be published in a paper that brings together the experience of artists, experts and organizers to produce a deeper understanding of the role of artificial intelligence in the context of art, culture, and human heritage.
TECH 4 ART is the tech operator delegated by the organizing committee to run the Open Call.
