Big Softies, Brockway Gallery

Brockway Center for Arts and Technology offers artist-in-residence programs in both our ceramics and metals studio. Our residency program is designed for developing, emerging, or established artists seeking to further develop their craft, concepts, and/or teaching skills. Preferred applicants may have a BFA or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent life experience in their craft or teaching, but it is not mandatory. Our residency program is unique in that it offers teaching experience within your time here through our after-school programming for 9th-12th grade, as well as paid teaching opportunities.

We are excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for our upcoming exhibition, Big Softies! Big Softies is an exhibition that centers fiber art and the usage of fiber in other craft disciplines. We are currently seeking work by metalsmiths and ceramicists who incorporate fiber into their work.

Two submissions is available:
Category 1: Fiber Artist Submission
Open to fiber artists based in central Pennsylvania. We are seeking works of fiber art, and welcome submissions of works created using any fiber art technique. This can include, but is not limited to, weaving, quilting, felting, and needle crafts.

Category 2: Ceramic and Metal Artist Submission
Open to artists located in North America who primarily work in ceramic or metal. We are seeking works of ceramic and/or metal that include fiber as an additional material. There are no restrictions on the format that fiber must take in your work, though it must be a visible component of each piece submitted. We welcome submissions of work that incorporates fiber using any existing or individually-developed method, including, but not limited to, sewing, flocking, weaving, tufting, and felting.
