Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Taipei is operated by the Taipei∣Treasure Hill Artist Village. The program aligns with international artist-in-residence sites, provides artists from both Taiwan and abroad with residence opportunities and forms an open platform that also acts as a web of solid, international connections, drawing in diverse communities in various disciplines to exchange and broaden each other’s perspectives.
In 2025, AIR Taipei offer four types of applications:
International Residency
This program encourages applicants to submit residency projects related to their past artistic creations with themes that resonate with the characteristics of Taipei City.
Treasure Hill Artist Village x Puppetry Art Center of Taipei Project Residency (THAV x PACT)
The development of Taiwanese puppetry art is highly unique. For instance, Taiwanese glove puppetry has shattered conventional boundaries, transitioning from street performances to theatrical productions, television programs, and even the film industry. The “Treasure Hill Artist Village x Puppetry Art Center of Taipei Project Residency” encourages international creative artists to explore Taiwanese and puppetry culture, examining the possibilities of puppetry within contemporary art, imposing no specific limitations on puppetry styles or themes.
This project for international applicants only, accommodations and administrative assistance will be provided by THAV, while PACT will offer opportunities for public performances.
Domestic Residency
This initiative is designed to promote the professional development of Taiwanese artists and facilitates opportunities for cultural exchange and collaboration.
Overseas Residency Visit
Additionally, for supporting the Taiwanese artists to connect with the global art scenes, AIR Taipei has collaborated with its international partner institutions in providing flight ticket, accommodation, studio space and allowance in the International Exchange Program.
