Áras Éanna Residency

Applications are now open for the 2024 residency. Apply here.

The closing date for all applications is the 9th of June 2024 at 5 pm.

The residency is from the 3rd of July to the 30th of July 2024 (inclusive).

The RHA School in partnership with Áras Éanna are delighted to offer a residency on Inis Oírr for the month of July.

Áras Éanna Ionad Ealaíne is the most westerly arts centre in Europe, located on the small Gaeltacht island of Inis OÍrr in Co Galway. The centre supports artists through its Artist in Residence programme. We offer artists the time and space to develop their practice and show new work in the unique environment of this island, which has a population of just under 300 people.

We welcome applications from artists to come and live and work on Inis Oírr and provide up to ten residencies each year. Each residency includes an on-site private apartment and a self-contained studio, and access to our galleries and theatre. The successful applicant will receive a €1000 stipend funded by Ealaín na Gaeltachta.

The last RHA | Aras Eanna artist in residence was Siobhán O’Callaghan who was award the residency in 2023.

Artist bio:

Siobhán O’Callaghan is a Dublin-based artist, invigorated by art’s capacity for storytelling, documentary and commentary, and the processes of making. Her work centres around connection in various forms – shared experiences, intimacy, how we relate to our environment. She is mindful that the environments in which we live help people make sense of their belonging in a larger culture and community. Relationships and communication take centre stage in her paintings, drawings and sculptures, and the process of their making.

Siobhán graduated from NCAD in 2015 with First Class Honours in Fine Art & VisualCulture. She continued her training at Florence Academy of Art. Exhibitions include Cumainn / We Gather, Ballaí Bána Gallery, Belfast (2024), Alchemical Vessels, 126 Gallery (2023), RHA Annual Exhibition (2021, 2022, 2023), Utopia Dystopia, dlr Lexicon (2019), and Caoláit, Burren College of Art (2019).
