Film professionals across the globe, we invite you to apply and seize the chance to join us at the next edition of Berlinale Talents as one of the world’s top 200 emerging filmmakers. Taking place February 15-20, 2025, it will be a bustling week of discipline-specific workshops, talks with world-renowned guests, think-tanks, networking and more. Incomparable, inspiring and eye-opening, the Summit week is only the beginning of your possible life-long relationship with Berlinale Talents and the Berlinale as a whole.

What is Berlinale Talents?

Berlinale Talents is the talent development programme of the Berlin International Film Festival, with project development labs taking place digitally in late January and an onsite summit with panels, discussions and networking opportunities during the Berlinale each February.

Who can apply?

Berlinale Talents is aimed at filmmakers, series and XR content creators with with an existing track record of work. We are currently open to 14 film disciplines, which you can explore below.

Participation in Talents comes with the responsibility to share, and our entire programme is focused not just on what the experts have to offer, but what our Talents can bring to the group too. Each and everyone’s input and the interaction among the participants drive the sessions forward and are a valuable addition to the tapestry of the six days.

General Application

The Berlinale Talents Summit with its talks, workshops and think tanks in Berlin is the core of the event in February and attended by all 200 Talents together. All applicants must complete the General Application.

Apply with a Project

In addition to a completed general application, directors, screenwriters and producers may – but don’t have to – submit a project to one of our Stations or the Talent Project Market. Applicants with series projects can also apply to all three Stations; participants working on crossmedia and extended reality (XR) projects find their home at the Short Form Station.

Apply as Alumni

Directors, screenwriters and producers who have previously taken part in Berlinale Talents may apply again for one of our Talents Labs (Doc Station, Script Station, Short Form Station, Talent Project Market) with a project in development. Before you apply, check the application criteria above to see if your project is at the right stage.

Former participants of the Talents Labs may reapply for the Berlinale Talents Summit. Come and attend talks, films and workshops to round off your Berlinale Talents experience!
