About the program
Cottage residencies offer artists live/work space within the larger creative community of the Byrdcliffe Arts Colony amidst the serene natural setting of Woodstock, New York. While cottage residencies are more autonomous by nature, artists-in-residence are invited to participate in a variety of program offerings at Byrdcliffe.
During the summer months (May – September), this includes all monthly communal residency program offerings such as practice shares, excursions, gatherings, guest speakers, and Open Studio events. The winter months (October – April) are a quieter time of year at Byrdcliffe and a wonderful time to be in residence for artists looking for time and space for creative work with minimal distractions.
All artists-in-residents are invited to participate in the annually AiR exhibition at Byrdcliffe’s Kleinert/James Center for the Arts gallery space the year following their residency.
Artist Accommodations
Byrdcliffe’s artist-residency cottages are each unique in size, layout, and fee. Utilities (propane, electric, and Wi-Fi) are not included and pets are not allowed.
