Greenwich Art Society Member Flinn Summer Exhibit

ANNUAL MEMBER FLINN SUMMER EXHIBIT 2024
JULY 31 – AUGUST 22, 2024
THEME: “#LIVINGARTISTS”

ENTRY: Entry open ONLY to G.A.S. members. Works are not eligible if previously accepted for one of our juried exhibitions; if they have been exhibited in the Flinn Gallery; or if completed prior to 2020. All submitted work must be attractively and appropriately matted, framed and/or presented. All works must be for sale. If a portrait, the price of a similar commission must be stated. No PORs.

ENTRY FEE: For annual, new member or membership renewal of $75, the artist can submit up to 2 pieces of art. The membership fee effective through Aug. 14, 2025. Fee for entering 3 pieces $100 includes 2024 membership. All fees non-refundable. Multiple entries from the same artist must be submitted at the same time. Entry fees must be paid via PayPal through Entrythingy. ENTRY OPENS MAY 20, ENTRY DEADLINE – JUNE 30.

CATEGORIES: Painting: Oil, Acrylic, Drawing, Pastel, Watercolor, Sculpture, Photography, Original Digital Art, Fiber Arts, Mixed Media, Other Media, Printmaking (no digital prints of original artwork.)

ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS:: Wall-hung: Max size 6’h x 5’w x 8”d. 15 lb. max weight.

ALL work must have screw eyes and wire attached ready for hanging. No saw tooth hardware or fishing line accepted. Unframed stretched canvas must have 1.25” museum edge. All other works must be framed.

Sculpture: Limited to 8’ height & 12 sq. ft. floor area. (i.e. 3’ x 4’). Provide own base. Entry fees will not be returned if G.A.S. chooses to remove a work from eligibility for exhibition on the grounds of poor condition, oversize, damaged frame, etc.

JUDGING: Works selected will be posted on our website on Monday, July 15.

RECEIVING: Accepted artwork drop off will be at the Flinn Gallery on Friday, July 26 / 2-4pm & Saturday, July 27 / 1pm-3pm.

IMAGES OF ARTWORK: G.A.S. will produce an online digital & virtual gallery. All works exhibited will be included.

AWARDS & RECEPTION: Cash and other awards totaling over $2000 will be presented at the opening reception, Thurs., Aug. 1 / 5:30pm-7pm

REMOVAL OF SELECTED WORK: Artwork to be picked up Fri. & Sat., Aug. 23 & 24. Pick up procedure & timing to be emailed to each exhibiting artist. No early removals.

LIABILITY/ SALES: Although care will be taken, neither the GAS nor the Greenwich Library will be responsible for loss or damage. Entry constitutes agreement to this condition. GAS retains 30% commission for all sold art. Sales of displayed works within 3 months of the close of the exhibition will be subject to this charge.

JUDGE: Lauren Rosati is an Associate Curator in the department of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Lauren is also Research Projects Manager in the Leonard A. Lauder Research Center for Modern Art, an art historian and writer whose work focuses on sound, media, performance, and technology. Recent projects include the exhibitions Oliver Beer: Vessel Orchestra (2019) and Jacolby Satterwhite: A Metta Prayer (2023) as well as a forthcoming commission with Jennie C. Jones. She holds a Ph.D. in Art History from the City University of New York, Graduate Center.
