Münchner Künstlerhaus fellowships

The Münchner Künstlerhaus Foundation is offering fellowships for a period ranging from six weeks to two months, during which artists can combine living and working in its unique workshop.
The lithography workshop of the Münchner Künstlerhaus is located right in the heart of the Bavarian capital. With four large original lithographic presses and a large number of Solnhofen limestone, STEINDRUCK MÜNCHEN is not only superbly equipped but also a genuine rarity in this culturally vibrant metropolis. The art of lithography has been recognized as UNESCO cultural heritage since 2018. Supported by the Münchner Künstlerhaus-Stiftung, the workshop has set itself the task of preserving and developing the traditional and multifaceted flat printing process. It offers artists a place where they can intensively explore the medium of stone printing. Since 2001, more than 80 scholarship holders have been able to use the workshop to develop their artistic work.

The fellowship is open to artists worldwide who wish to work intensively with lithography. Basic knowledge of lithography and the ability to work independently are prerequisites.
– Applicants for the fellowship must not be residents of Bavaria.
– There are two fellowships specifically aimed at students, with a fixed duration of 6 weeks.

WHAT WE OFFER
The lithography workshop is available to fellows at any time during their stay for their own artistic work. Exceptions apply on specific days when lithography workshops or cultural activities of the Münchner Künstlerhaus enliven the workshop. These days will be agreed upon and scheduled at the beginning of the fellowship. The costs of regular material consumption will be covered by the Münchner Künstlerhaus Foundation. Only the price of paper used needs to be paid. The grant also includes free accommodation in a small apartment next to the workshop. A deposit of €50 must be paid at the beginning of the stay to ensure that the apartment is returned in good condition. At the end of the stay, fellows will receive logistical support to showcase their works in the form of a final presentation, as well as an individual exhibition in the lithography workshop.

Our fellows are expected to support some of the activities held in the workshop.
