Saint-Roch Hospice Museum Residency

Since 2002, the date of its creation, the studio-residence has welcomed artists from different worlds, drawing on all forms of expression of the plastic and visual arts. Lasting four months, this artist residency has the particularity of being linked to the Hospice Saint-Roch museum. The museum monitors the residency, the contract signed with the artist as well as the publication linked to the work carried out during it. The town of Issoudun is responsible for the technical operation of this workshop and provides the technical assistance necessary for its smooth running.

The Issoudun artist residency receives help from the Community of Communes of the Country of Issoudun (CCPI) and the City of Issoudun, the Public Establishment of Cultural Cooperation of Issoudun (EPCCI) , the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs Centre-Val de Loire and the Centre-Val de Loire Regional Council.

Description of the workshop

* the duration of the residency is four months (between July and October), the residency dates are agreed
  with the artist according to their availability and that of the residency.

* The artist’s presence time in the workshop will be established by agreement.

The place

* The workshop-residence is an apartment and a workplace , in the heart of
  the city. It is located at 2 rue de la Triperie, near the museum, the park and the train station.

* It includes a workplace of 100m2, with workshop, gallery, storage, mezzanine,
  furnished accommodation of 78 m2 with living room, bedroom upstairs, and a private courtyard.

* The workshop is available to the artist who can bring the materials necessary for
  their creation.

* Workshop and accommodation are made available to the artist free of charge by the
  municipality.

Equipment

* Color printer
   Internet / wifi connection

* Complete toolbox and DIY electrical equipment (drill, jigsaw, electric screwdriver, etc.)

The Stock Exchange

The maximum assistance amount for a residence includes:

* A residency grant of €4,000
* 25% of the grant is paid upon signing the
  residency agreement, i.e. €1,000
* The remaining 75%, i.e. €3,000, being spread monthly during the stay
  in three fractions.
* An amount of €2,400 for the realization of the residence project.

The publication

* At the end of the residency, the artist benefits from an amount of €3,500 for the edition of a
  publication (or website) allowing him to present his creations and in particular that produced during
  the residency in Issoudun.

Mediation

* A budget of €1,500 is dedicated throughout the residency to mediation actions which would be established as follows: 

– 2 days for workshop openings

– 2 or 3 workshops intended for audiences defined with the artist.

Exhibition rights

* A budget of €1,000 is dedicated at the end of the residency to exhibition rights for the public presentation of the final project.


Artist’s project

* No program is imposed on the artist
* All types of artistic expressions are accepted
* Proposal of a specific project for the four months of residency in Issoudun
* Personal work may lead to a presentation at the end of the residency on the spot.
* The project includes a cultural action approach aimed at different audiences, particularly with schools.

– The visual arts representative of the Centre-Val de Loire Regional Council
– The Curator of the Hospice Saint-Roch museum
– A representative of the EPCCI


Call for applications until May 31, 2024 (date of receipt at the museum)

No application will be studied outside the call for applications period.
