The Filmhaus Köln, in cooperation with the Academy of the Arts of the World and its members, invites you to the pilot project NEW CURATORS . This initiative offers aspiring curators, who have not yet had the opportunity to gain experience in film culture, an entry into the world of film curation .
Throughout the program, participants will have the opportunity to develop a curatorial project . They will be supported by international curators and mentors who provide practical experience and deep insights into program design. The program is complemented by intensive workshops covering various aspects of film curation.

PROGRAM GOAL
The aim of the program is to establish a more diverse film cultural community and to create a young, transnational network for NRW. In addition to the practical aspects of film curation, general elements will also be discussed, including questions such as:
• How are short film programs selected and compiled?
• What practical considerations are necessary, such as research, clarification of screening rights, and financial aspects?
• How is a single work dramaturgically integrated into a program and how does it enter into dialogue with other films?
APPLICATION
Interested aspiring curators are invited to apply. Participating in the project offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience and network with internationally established curators and the film culture in NRW.
REQUIREMENTS
Young people between 20 and 35 years old from Cologne and the surrounding area with diverse backgrounds can apply. The project is particularly aimed at individuals who have not yet gained experience or entry into film curation. Previous experience is not required. However, a strong affinity for film and a willingness to experiment are essential. Reliable and responsible participation in the program is expected.

• Introductory workshop and film programs by mentors: September 26-28, 2024
• In-depth workshop during the development and research phase: October 17-19, 2024
• Finalization of programs: Until December 15, 2024
• Presentation of film programs at Filmhaus Kino: February 7-9, 2025
