The Grantham Foundation Residency

The Grantham Foundation is pleased to officially launch its 2025 Calls for Projects.

The 2025 Calls are divided into three parts: Visual Arts Creation, Visual Arts Research and Research and Creation in Architecture.

The application deadline is June 14, 2024.

Creation Residency in Visual Arts with Grant

On the recommendation of its committee of experts, the Foundation awards a CA$10,000 grant with a four-week residency to an artist who has achieved recognition in the visual arts.

Eligibility

The program is intended for artists in the visual arts who reside in Quebec, elsewhere in Canada or abroad, have a minimum of five years of professional practice. 

The projects submitted must be in keeping with the Grantham Foundation’s mission and objectives. Visual arts are defined as practices recognized as such professionally—photography, installation, sculpture, painting, graphic art, performance—as well as sound art, digital and media practices.

Duos are eligible, with the same conditions offered.

Please note that artists coming from abroad are responsible for completing the administrative procedures required to allow them to enter Canada and remain in Quebec for the duration of their stay.

Research Residency in Visual Arts with Grant

In keeping with its goal of bringing together research and artistic creation, the Foundation annually awards a CA$5,000 grant and a four-week residency to a specialist recognized in the visual arts, environment or any other discipline concerned with these issues. 

Eligibility

The program is intended for researchers who reside in Quebec, elsewhere in Canada or abroad, whether they are affiliated with a research institution or not. Also eligible are independent researchers, art critics and exhibition curators, as well as artists with a curatorial practice.

The projects submitted must be in keeping with the Grantham Foundation’s mission and objectives. Visual arts are defined as practices recognized as such professionally—photography, installation, sculpture, painting, graphic art, performance—as well as sound art, digital and media practices. 

Research related to a curatorial project is eligible.

Duos are eligible. conditions offered remain the same.

Projects and work toward a university degree or the publication of a dissertation are not eligible.

3 year pilot project

The Foundation awards a CA$5,000 grant with a three-week residency to an architect or researcher whose practice is sensitive to places and all those living in them.

Eligibility

The program is intended for practitioners, scholars and researchers who reside in Quebec, elsewhere in Canada or abroad, and whose research and/or creative work in architecture measures up to the environmental challenges of our time.

Duos are eligible, the conditions offered remain the same.
