  • OPEN DAYS:JULY and AUGUST 2024As part of the application process and where possible, we would like you to visit Margate to familiarise yourself with the town and to begin imagine what it would be like to live here. for up to 18 months. We will host open days to the studios on 5th July and 8th August. REGISTER HERE

  • Please note that you will be responsible for securing an appropriate Visa to live in the UK. Please research carefully to see if you will be eligible to apply.

How to apply…

The application form will be released June 2024 and close on 1st September, Please take your time to apply, it is not first come – first served. You should prepare the following to support your application:

1) A 3 minute video shot on your phone. This will be of you talking direct to camera about your work (paintings) and why you would like to apply for TEAR

2) A portfolio of 10 – 15 art works ( please note that this should be mostly paintings, but if you are a multi disciplinary artist, you can include other works as long as paintings feature heavily. Please paste your art works onto One PDF only with titles, size, medium and no further information.

3) An artist CV

4) Names of two referees to support your application ( we will ask for references at interview stage and not before)

IF YOU ARE a NON- UK applicant who needs a visa:

You will ask you to show evidence that you could potentially meet the requirements to gain a visa, this will include things like

Evidence of exhibitions

Evidence of press / articles written about you

Awards

PLEASE READ ABOUT VISA REQUIREMENTS HERE

  • You must be able to live and work in the UK
  • You must be able to move to Margate for the start of the programme in early April 2025. We do not provide accommodation as part of the programme.
  • There are no formal qualification requirements but we would like people to be working similar to masters degree level.
  • The programme is non-accredited, meaning that we are unable to sponsor non-UK applicants for a student visa – please read about visa options HERE
  • We particularly encourage applications from disabled people and people from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, as these groups are currently under-represented in the cultural sector.
