Window is a dual-platform contemporary art and project space which showcases experimental works onsite and online.
Hosting shows that are both internally curated and generated by our collaborators, Window aims to support and showcase a diverse range of ambitious and engaging projects between its two platforms and through other outputs and events.
As the first dedicated online exhibition space in the country, Window online gives space to online projects that would otherwise be unviable or go unseen. The onsite space, located in the foyer of The University of Auckland’s General Library foyer, is seen by thousands of people every week. Window has launched the careers of many students as artists, curators and writers. Projects premiered at Window have gone on to be shown at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts.
Window Gallery is committed to presenting a diverse range of ambitious, experimental, and thought-provoking projects across our onsite and online platforms, as well as through events and other creative initiatives. We invite submissions from individuals, groups, or collectives who aim to reimagine, challenge, or expand the possibilities within the Window glass box.
While we welcome artists, we also encourage proposals from practitioners across various disciplines—including writers, academics, engineers, and those working in interdisciplinary fields. Proposals may include exhibitions, events, workshops, performances, talks, or other innovative activations, whether onsite, online, or off-site. International submissions are warmly invited.
Please provide a written application with clear outline of your proposed work, visual/ audio materials, contact details and other supporting information, to window-curators@auckland.ac.nz
