Short Description
The Road To Elefsina is a residency program in Athens designed to expand artists’ cultural experiences and deepen their understanding of Greek heritage and the origins of civilization. Emphasizing the soothing power of art and poetry in addressing human agonies, the program explores themes around the myth of death and resurrection.

Location: Athens (with guided tours and workshops in both Athens and Elefsina)
Program Structure:
8 days/7 nights residency with accommodation provided in downtown Athens studio apartments (with workspace included)
Intensive workshops covering storytelling, performance, video art, narrative development, concept design, and object creation
An online introduction to Greek heritage preceding the physical residency
Guided tours and open-air workshops on the history and mythology of Elefsina
Promotion & publication of participants’ work in SMCK Magazine and video participation at Schmuck Jewelry Week 2025 in Munich, Germany
Theme:
Exploration of Greek heritage and mythology—with a focus on the myth of death and resurrection—while using art, performance, and narrative to create meaningful, transformative experiences.

Selection Process:
Applications will be reviewed based on alignment with the residency’s theme and the applicant’s artistic profile. Although specific selection details are not provided, successful candidates will receive an 8-day residency with workshops, guided tours, and promotional opportunities through SMCK Magazine and related events.

Open to visual artists, designers, crafters, jewelry makers, ceramists, performers, photographers, filmmakers, and art theorists
Minimum age requirement: 30 years or older
