Short Description:
Squeaky Wheel seeks a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead its celebrated media arts organization. This leadership position involves overseeing all aspects of the organization’s operations, programs, and strategic direction, while nurturing meaningful community relationships and advancing the organization’s mission to support media art access and innovation.
Now in its 40th year, Squeaky Wheel is Western New York’s premier media arts center, offering education programs, artist residencies, exhibitions, screenings, and equipment rentals. The organization is committed to creativity, skill-sharing, and community building at local, regional, and international levels.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic vision and policy in collaboration with the Board
- Lead finance, development, and grant-writing efforts
- Supervise full-time and part-time staff, interns, and volunteers
- Maintain partnerships across community, nonprofit, and media arts sectors
- Represent the organization locally and nationally in the arts ecosystem
- Champion equity, access, and inclusion across all programs
Eligibility:
- 3+ years in nonprofit arts leadership or program management
- Proven experience with budgets, fundraising, and grant management
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Media Arts or related field preferred
- Familiarity with tools such as QuickBooks, Salesforce, Google Workspace, and WordPress
- Values collaboration, creativity, adaptability, and cultural competency
Program Benefits or Awards:
Compensation in the range of $55,000 to $65,000 annually. Healthcare costs are split between the organization and employee; paid time off including vacation, sick and personal days.
