Short Description
The position of Artist-in-Residence is available as a one-year assignment for a working artist in any medium. The successful applicant will have access to studio space and use of the facilities within the Art Department, including an etching press, ceramics kilns, dark-room and other equipment.
The post holder is expected to contribute to curriculum and co-curricular Art, as well as the community work that takes place within our purpose-built gallery.
Eltham College is a highly successful independent day school in south-east London, educating boys and girls aged 7 to 18 across both Junior and Senior Schools. The College has grown considerably over recent years: there are now over 800 students in the Senior School and around 260 pupils in the Junior School and places are heavily oversubscribed. Since 2020, girls have been able to join Years 3 and 7, mirroring the Sixth Form which has been coeducational for over 45 years. The school places an equal emphasis on academic, pastoral and co-curricular excellence and has an outstanding reputation in all three areas as well as for the friendly, unpretentious nature of daily life.
Eligibility
Practicing Artists in Any Medium: The residency is open to artists working in any medium, including visual arts, ceramics, printmaking, photography, and more.
No Specific Nationality or Age Restrictions: The program does not specify nationality or age requirements, welcoming a diverse range of applicants.

Eltham College has its own generous salary scale for teachers and offers competitive salaries for non-teaching staff.

The School has a limited number of single occupancy rooms in shared flats which can be made available on a time-limited basis for new staff members while they settle in the area and look for local housing.
Children of staff can be educated at the School if they meet the entrance standards and, at the discretion of the Headmaster, may receive a tuition fee reduction for both Junior and Senior Schools.
