Culture Action Europe (CAE) is seeking an Advocacy Officer to join our team. This role sits at the intersection of communications and policy, playing a key part in amplifying CAE’s mission to put culture at the heart of decision-making across Europe.
We are seeking an individual who understands the impact of narrative in policymaking, is proficient in the language of European cultural policy, and excels in dynamic, collaborative environments. Preference for individuals with experience in communications, especially within the policy field.

The Advocacy Officer is in charge of:
Under the supervision of the Head of Communication and Community Development:
● Overseeing implementation of communication actions (mailing design and drafting), including monthly Brussels Decoder and Headlines Newsletter;
● Overseeing CAE website content schedule, including producing campaign, advocacy and news content
● Overseeing, creating and monitoring Culture Action Europe social media content and contributing to social media strategy implementation;
● In-house design of publications;
● Supporting advocacy and outreach campaigns

Requirements:

● At least 1.5 years of work experience, ideally in a position involving policy and advocacy tasks. Previous experience with the EU institutions will be an advantage.
● University Degree
● Proven track record in writing reports, articles and proposals, as well as strong text editing skills.
● Excellent command of English, good command of French; Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset
● Proficiency using design tools such as Canva, and/or Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
● Proficiency in using web-based resources, including social media, web editors, and a content management system (CMS). Knowledge of HTML is a plus
● Demonstrated knowledge in the EU cultural and/or AI & digital, employment, budget, foreign affairs policies and the structure of European institutions. Strong ability to grasp complex EU policy processes and translate them into clear, accessible language.
● Interest in working with Accessibility and Diversity/Inclusion lens
● Flexibility and adaptability;
● Excellent skills in teamwork and collective decision making, while also able to work independently;
● Intercultural skills to interact with stakeholders, members, and staff from various cultural backgrounds;

We offer a one-year Belgian contract (contrat de travail à durée déterminée (CDD)) on a full-time basis (1 FTE), with the possibility of extension. The position requires presence in our Brussels office (partial home working allowed). Gross monthly salary level: €2,448.00 + Luncheon Vouchers 8€ per working day +
homeworking allowance + commuting allowance + holiday allowance + Belgium social security.
