Short Description
Are you an artist with a passion for light and an interest in creating artworks to be produced as gobo projection slides? Hive Curates and Camden Council invites local and national artists to submit expressions for Light Up Kilburn 2026. Help us illuminate Kilburn Grange Park during one of the darkest winter months and create a unifying space for the local community.
This open call offers two opportunities for artists to design 3 artworks, to be produced as slides for gobo projectors. These projectors will be positioned around Kilburn Grange Park, providing an opportunity for images and patterns to animate various surfaces and create captivating displays.
Eligibility
We welcome applications from Black, Asian, and those of other non-white ethnicities, those who identify as LGBTQ+, neurodivers,e and disabled artists/people.
WHAT KIND OF ARTWORKS ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
• 3 existing or new artwork designs to be produced as slides for gobo projectors
• Submissions that consider the interplay of light and shadow will be particularly welcomed
• Ideas that consider community engagement through: public workshops, skill-sharing activities and/or co-creation
- High-quality and artistically innovative artworks
- Consideration of accessibility in relation to the audience
WHAT TECHNICAL DETAILS SHOULD YOUR PROPOSAL CONSIDER?
- Be a static image
• Be supplied as vector images in black and white
• Use a black background for the artwork
• Be of high resolution and compatible with Gobo projectors to provide a high-quality projection.
• Be simple and avoid overly detailed designs - RGB format
• Make full use of the working area
• Need to meet accessibility requirements

Artist Fee: £1,000 (plus VAT). The fee must include any community engagement. Production support will be provided.
