Short Description
To select the exhibitions for 2026 at the Chapelle de Boondael and the Wiertz Exposition Space, the municipality of Ixelles is launching a call for projects.
The municipality will select seven exhibition projects that highlight the visual arts (whether classical, hybrid, or innovative practices).
The selected exhibitions will take place on the following dates:
Chapelle de Boondael:
- 23/02/2026 – 23/03/2026
- 13/04/2026 – 11/05/2026
- 31/08/2026 – 28/09/2026
- 02/11/2026 – 30/11/2026
Wiertz Exposition Space:
- 19/01/2026 – 16/02/2026
- 18/05/2026 – 15/06/2026
- 12/10/2026 – 09/11/2026
Eligibility
This call is open to artists, curators, and project managers who are domiciled in Belgium (as a natural person or legal entity).
Each candidate may submit only one exhibition project.
Submission Requirements
- The duly completed application form – in French or Dutch;
- A concise portfolio with approximately ten photographic reproductions of previous exhibition projects and a presentation of the proposed project, including descriptions and visual materials of works likely to be exhibited;
- A curriculum vitae for each artist likely to be exhibited;
- If applicable, a curriculum vitae of the exhibition organizer/curator.
If any required document is missing, the application will be considered incomplete and will not be evaluated.

Program Benefits & Awards
- Access to the Chapelle de Boondael or the Wiertz Exposition Space for a period of 29 consecutive days;
- Financial support of €2,000 for an exhibition at the Chapelle de Boondael;
- Financial support of €1,500 for an exhibition at the Wiertz Exposition Space;
- Technical assistance for the installation and dismantling of the exhibition (up to 2 days for setup and 1 day for dismantling);
- Organization of a vernissage (opening event);
- Promotion of the exhibition through the following channels: the municipal cultural agenda, the municipality’s cultural website, the Culture Department’s social media, and printed materials.
Winners of the call must:
- Supervise the exhibition throughout its duration at the Chapelle de Boondael or the Wiertz Exposition Space;
- Comply with the internal regulations for cultural venues (municipality of Ixelles);
- Keep the exhibition open at least 4 days per week;
- Ensure insurance coverage for the exhibition, including artworks and materials, against risks such as fire, water damage, theft, and civil liability. The municipality of Ixelles does not provide insurance during transport or the exhibition. If the laureate does not insure the exhibition, it is entirely at their own risk;
- Handle general communication about the exhibition (design, publication, and distribution of all communication materials, both print and digital);
- Organize at least two public engagement activities in French or Dutch with a target audience of their choice.
