Open Call 

Following The Drawing Shows at Arena Studios and Gallery and The Bridewell Studios and Gallery, Colette Lilley has been invited to present an independent exhibition of artist’s work that could be described as drawing for drawing’s sake. The show, to be curated by Colette Lilley with three other North-West regional practising artists Sarah Jane Richards, and Jon Barraclough and Mike Carney of the Drawing Paper will be installed at The Bridewell Studios and Gallery, to coincide with the Liverpool Biennial 2023, Friday 21st July until Sunday 13th August.


The exhibition will also be published in a special, limited edition, 9th Issue of Drawing Paper, distributed nationally), and on a dedicated website.

Who can apply? 

International open call to all drawers. There are two categories: North West regions and the rest of the world. We aim to provide opportunities for all artists while ensuring the representation for local Northwest regional based artists.  

Category 1: Northwest Region: Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Wrexham and Flintshire in north Wales; and in Merseyside, Cheshire, Shropshire and Herefordshire in England.

Category 2: Rest of the World.

How much does it cost? 

This is a FREE show – there are no fees to submit, exhibit or feature in the Drawing Paper.

Your account must be public.

Only one ‘work’ to be submitted per artist, first tagged image will be accepted.


 

What can be entered?
Work that represents drawing for drawing’s sake. Drawing in any form and in and on any medium.  For live or site-specific work post image/video of previous work/examples of what you would propose to do in description. 


 

Deadline
Artists can apply from 1st March until Midnight (GMT) 10th April 2023. Successful applicants will be notified by the 18th April. Unfortunately we will be unable to notify or provide feedback on unsuccessful applications. 

Terms & Conditions

  • Applicants’ Instagram account must be public.
  • Work must be your own, preferably created recently, original work that you have the right to publish.
  • Only one ‘work’ to be submitted per artist (although we recognise this may need to be several images/items/films etc). First tagged post will be accepted.
  • Work must be delivered and collected from a Central Liverpool collection point, times and dates to be arranged with successful applicants. 
  • Work must be available from 1st May until the close of the exhibition 13th August. 
  • The curators have the right to document work for social media, the website, Drawing Paper 9 and may be used as promotion for the exhibition and/or events.
