ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM

Each summer, Gallery 263 offers our 700-square-foot space to artists of all media and experience levels. We strive to give the local Boston and Cambridge community a stake in the process, not just the product, of art making. From mural painting to textile arts, mold making to photography, and installation to community projects—our artist residencies have drawn passionate artists of all media.

The artist-in-residence will enjoy a comfortable environment in which to incubate ideas, fuel discussion, and produce new work. The residency is a non-live-in opportunity that comes with a $250 stipend. The selected artist will benefit from full access to our space and amenities; participate in programming (critiques, community outreach projects, and/or social engagement); work with the gallery to share updates on the gallery’s social media and online platforms about work-in-process; and conclude their stay with a showcase of their work.

Showcase: August 20–26, 2023
Submission Deadline: Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 11:59 PM EST

HOW TO APPLY

Please fill out the form at the bottom of this page. Applicants are required to answer the following questions on the form.

III. How would a residency at Gallery 263 aid in that development?

IV. Our gallery audience loves to learn about our residents and their process. What ideas do you have for fostering public engagement?

V. The Artist-in-Residence program is scheduled for summer 2023 (Residency: July 10–August 19, 2023; Showcase: August 20-26, 2022), and Gallery 263 does not provide housing accommodations. Are you able to commute from your residence or find your own local housing if selected?

VI. The selected artist for the program will receive a stipend of $250 to support their project. Please outline how you will use this stipend in pursuit of your project.
