Saxony-Anhalt awards scholarships for young artists
Application deadline 15 June 2024
The State Chancellery and Ministry of Culture of Saxony-Anhalt are funding various stays for young artists in selected cultural institutions with 1,500 euros per month each for the year 2025.
The call for applications is aimed at professional, particularly talented and primarily younger artists in the fields of fine art, literature and music/composition who have already received public recognition for their work and who are still open to artistic development. Applications from artists from Saxony-Anhalt are expressly welcome, but are not a requirement. Funding for other artists is possible if their outstanding artistic work is of particular interest to the state or if a connection to Saxony-Anhalt can be established. Applications from students are not accepted.
In detail, the following scholarship stays are supported:
- Kunsthof Dahrenstedt : The Kunsthof Dahrenstedt is a regional cultural center in the Altmark region. For the period from July 1 to 31, 2025, an apartment in the Kunsthof and the studio will be available for one scholarship holder in the fields of fine arts and literature.
- Salzwedel Artists’ and Scholarship Holders’ House: In the historic town center of the Hanseatic city of Salzwedel, the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel maintains a half-timbered house as an artists’ and scholarship holders’ house with an international focus. Artists from the fields of fine art, literature and music/composition find ideal working and living conditions here. Three-month study stays will be advertised in 2025.
- Hundisburg Castle: Hundisburg Castle near Haldensleben is one of the most important rural baroque castles in Saxony-Anhalt. The vineyard house on the site offers accommodation and work opportunities. The call for applications for the period from August 17 to November 16, 2025 is primarily aimed at younger artists in the field of visual literature.
- Kalbe Artists’ Town: The Artists’ Town is an innovative project in the Altmark region with the aim of addressing demographic change through art and culture. In the listed buildings, artists find creative working conditions in the middle of Kalbe’s old town. Study stays are advertised for the areas of literature (April to June 2025) and fine arts (September to November 2025).
