The Almenara Art Prize is an international online painting competition that offers more than 27000€ in cash awards and other prizes. We encourage the international participation in diverse genres, styles, mediums and substrates including hyperrealism, photorealism, contemporary realism, surrealism, imaginative realism, impressionism and plein air painting.Categories include Figurative, Portrait, Drawing, Landscape and Plein Air Painting and Still Life, Wildlife and Animal, Fantastic Realism and Young category.

Individuals,people and nudes with any background. Animal art should be included in the Wildlife and Animal Category . Any oils, color pencil, watercolor, acrylic, and pastels showing the human form are acceptable mediums here. Participants can submit their work in multiple categories. Portraiture
Fine art portraiture is one of the most demanded genres in nowadays figurative painting. This is an artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expressions are predominant, though in a full-length one the body will take up more space. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person.See examples of the artworks below:
Landscape and Plein Air Painting
All landscape subjects are acceptable: cityscapes ,architecture, seascapes, etc.This category also includes real landscapes and imaginary or fantastic landscapes.Studio landascapes and Plein Air landscapes are included in this category.See examples of the artworks below:
Still Life
A still life is a an artwork depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which are either natural (food, flowers, dead animals, plants, rocks, shells, etc.) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, etc.).So, here works vary from a single object to a complete room. Wildlife and Animal
All artworks showing domesticated and wild animals are accceptable. Paintings featuring the natural world and wildlife must be submitted here. Works can also be submitted in several categories. See example of the artworks below:
Fantastic Realism
Figurative works showing science fiction , religious , surrealism .and fantasy scenes must be submitted in this category. Works can also be submitted in several categories. See example of the artworks below:
Young
Artists aged 18-25 years old can submit their works into this category. The Almenara Collection Young Category aims to encourage and support young artists. The winner will receive 500€ in cash, place in one of our artist residencies and the artwork will be directly selected for The Almenara Art Prize 2024 exhibition in Córdoba, Spain.
David Gutiérrez, founder of The Almenara Collection is the only juror in this category. This category has been created as a complement to our philosophy of supporting young and emerging artists.
This category is separated from the rest of categories , so submitted works will compete only in this category and they won’t compete with the rest of categories of The Almenara Art Prize or for the other awards associated to the rest of The Almenara Art Prize. Portrait, figurative, fantastic, animal, still life, drawing and landscape works can be submitted here. The entry fee in the Young Category is a reduced entry fee of 29€. Artists may enter and win in one or multiple categories. The competition is open to all those who wish to apply worldwide. There is no limit to the number of artworks you may enter and no size restrictions.Works do NOT need to be available for sale.If they are not available for sale, they will not have options to be chosen for the purchase awards.Accepted artists, finalists and winners will be published on The Almenara Collection Website and on Instagram and Facebook.Also,as part of the collection, winners will remain permanently showed on our webpage.Works do NOT need to be available for the physical exhibition to compete and win.Please contact agustina@thealmenaracollection.com if you have additional questions or need further information.
WORK REQUIREMENTS: Work must be original work of the artist ,produced sorely by the artist and the copyright must be his/her exclusive property.The artwork must be original in concept and execution and free in style (impressionistic,realistic,etc).We accept figurative paintings,from Hyperrealism to Impressionism.That includes Hyperrealism,Photorealism,contemporary realism,imaginative Realism,Surrealism,Impressionism,Plein Air Painting and any kind of representational painting.Artworks can be for sale or not.If they are not available for sale, they will not have options to be chosen for the acquisition awards.Entries must not violate any copyrights.
No photography, digital or any other media.No digitally manipulated work, painted giclee prints or any other type of reproductions, no manipulated or painted over photos or prints. MEDIUM: Oil, Pastel, Acrylic ,watercolor, graphite, acrylic,charcoal,pencil, ink, colored pencils, gouache, tempera and all traditional mediums.
SUBSTRATE: linen, panel, carton,paper,canvas ,cooper ,board or any other surface.
PHOTOS/IMAGES OF THE WORKS: Up to three photographs of the work you are submitting.Photos must have between 1MB and 20 MB and must be sent in JPG format.You can send different images of the same entry,but at least one must show the whole painting.Please,submit good quality images of your artwork,so the details of the work can be seen.We also encourage you to include an image of the artist standing with the work or how the work is framed as additional images to the main photograph of the whole painting.
