    The RBSA Drawing Prize invites artists whose practice is rooted in drawing to enter work.

    This is a technique prize, meaning that we invite entries from artists working in all styles and mediums, the only restriction is that the technique must be drawing. All drawing practices are welcome, including digital drawing and 3D works, and we welcome entries from professional and emerging artists from across the region and beyond.

    Selection for the Drawing Prize is by digital image of the original artwork only. All works entered go through the same selection process which is based on the assessment of the quality and interest of each work.

    This year’s exhibition will be selected by:

    • Barbara Walker MBE RA – Turner Prize Nominee 2023
    • Kate Mason – Cultural leader and changemaker – across arts, heritage, cultural and creative sectors
    • Steve Bulcock – Deputy Head of Institute of Creative Arts at Birmingham City University

    Prizes:
    First Prize: £1000
    Second Prize: £500
    Third Prize: £250 sponsored by Judd Medical
    Arthur Lockwood Prize for an Artist Under 35: £300
    Up to 6 Highly Commended certificates will also be awarded

    KEY DATES

    • Applications open: Thursday 11 May
    • Entry Deadline: Monday 24 July 4pm (entry fees and entry form)
    • Selected artists announced: Tuesday 8 August by 4pm
    • Delivery of work:
      • Tuesday 22 August, 11am-4pm
      • Wednesday 23 August, 11am-4pm
      • Thursday 24 August, 11am-4pm
      • Friday 25 August, 11am-4pm
      • Saturday 26 August, 11am-4pm
    • Exhibition on display: Tuesday 5 September – Saturday 14 October
    • Private View: Tuesday 5 September, 6-8pm
    • Collection of work: Sunday 15 October, 12-3pm

    ENTRY FEES

    Artists may enter up to four pieces of work in total.
    • Free for RBSA Graduate Artists
    • 50% discount for artists under 35 (Please provide proof on delivery of artwork)
    • All entry fees are non-refundable

    1 entry: £19
    2 entries: £32
    3 entries: £40
    4 entries: £48

    PAYMENTS

    • Payment can be made by selecting one of the four options below
    • Card payments can be taken at the Gallery or over the phone
    • Please phone the Gallery to pay over the phone if you are under 35
