AA2A has officially opened applications for its 2026/27 residency cycle across 18 partner universities and colleges in England. Designed for practising artists seeking to experiment with new processes or equipment, the scheme provides a minimum of 100 hours of dedicated access to specialist creative facilities over the academic year. Participating artists work alongside students and technical staff, contributing to campus creative life while realizing their own independent projects. Additionally, residents benefit from network opportunities, discounted professional AXIS membership, and eligibility for financial assistance through the AA2A Artist Support Fund.

The residency supports a broad range of Visual Arts, Craft, Media, and Design disciplines based on individual host facilities, including Printmaking, Ceramics, Wood/Metal Fabrication, 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, Textiles, Digital & Analogue Photography, VR, Sound, and Fine Art (Painting/Sculpture).

Eligibility

• Geographic Scope: Open to UK-based artists who live within reasonable commuting distance of their chosen host institution.
• Professional Level: Must be a practising artist with at least one year of professional practice post-formal education.
• Student Status: Applicants cannot be currently enrolled in full-time formal education.

Application Requirements

3. Student Engagement Plan: Brief outline of how the artist's presence will benefit student cohorts on campus.
4. AI Policy: AI tools may be used for planning or grammar checks, but applications must be written in the artist's authentic voice.
