The National Asian Culture Center (ACC) is an international institution dedicated to artistic creation, cultural production, and cultural exchange, where Asian arts and culture connect with innovative ideas and contemporary values. Located in South Korea, ACC serves as a platform for developing and presenting new artistic practices that explore the relationship between culture, technology, and society.
Through exhibitions, research, residencies, and international collaborations, ACC supports artists and creators by providing opportunities for experimentation and public presentation. The ACC NEXT Emerging Asian Artists program focuses on discovering promising emerging artists from across Asia and supporting the development and exhibition of their innovative works.

2027 ACC NEXT Emerging Asian Artists International Open Call
The 2027 ACC NEXT Emerging Asian Artists International Open Call invites emerging artists from Asia to submit experimental artworks exploring the intersection of art and technology under the theme “Prototype.”
The theme considers the prototype not simply as an unfinished experiment, but as an original form that contains potential for development, transformation, and future possibilities. Artists are encouraged to present works that demonstrate imagination, technical exploration, and new approaches to artistic creation.
The open call seeks bold and forward-looking projects that reflect the evolving relationship between creative practices and technological innovation. Selected artists will have the opportunity to exhibit their works at ACC Creation Space 5 in South Korea, presenting experimental ideas to an international audience.
The program welcomes works that have strong potential for expansion and reinterpretation, emphasizing artistic processes that combine creativity, research, and technological experimentation.

Eligible artistic fields include:
- Interactive installations (physical computing, sensor-based works)
- Generative video and image works based on coding and algorithms
- Kinetic and robotic art
- Immersive and Extended Reality (XR) works
- Other experimental forms combining art and technology
Submitted works should be new creations that have not previously been exhibited elsewhere, or recreated versions developed specifically for the program.
Eligibility
The open call is open to:
- Artists who are nationals of an Asian country
- Artists born on or after January 1, 1987 (under 40 years old as of 2026)
Applicants who were born or raised in Asia may also be considered Asian artists regardless of nationality if their artistic practice strongly engages with Asian cultural, social, or historical identities.
Applicants must meet at least one of the following professional criteria:
- Have held at least one solo exhibition
- Have participated in at least one exhibition organized by a national or public art museum in Korea or abroad
- Have participated in at least three group exhibitions, including privately organized exhibitions
Commercial events such as art fairs and exhibitions completed only for academic degree requirements are not counted.
Applicants must demonstrate an experimental artistic approach combining visual art and technology. International applicants must also be eligible to obtain a visa for South Korea.
Program Benefits & Awards
- Artist Fee: KRW 3,000,000 per artwork
- Installation and Materials Budget: Up to KRW 2,000,000 per artwork (determined in consultation with ACC)
- Travel Support: International round-trip airfare for eligible overseas residents or domestic transportation support based on standard high-speed rail fares
- Accommodation: Provided through Asia Plex Studio (tentative)
Additional support includes:
- Access to ACC exhibition facilities and equipment through consultation
- Support for artwork transportation arrangements
- Opportunity to participate in the 2027 ACC CREATORS Residency
- One selected artist or team may receive a residency opportunity through an artist pitch review and project proposal evaluation
Selected participants must also join accompanying programs, including the exhibition opening and artist pitch sessions.
