Accounting Associate – Fractured Atlas
Fractured Atlas seeks a full-time Accounting Associate to join its Finance & Operations (FinPOps) team. This role is critical in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly closings, processing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP). The Accounting Associate will support the organization’s diverse fiscal sponsorship projects, assist with audit preparation, and help maintain financial integrity across operations. The position is fully remote for candidates based in the U.S., offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the country. This role is ideal for individuals with strong accounting skills and interest in supporting the arts sector.
The Role Overview
- Salary: $60,798.40 annually (~$29.23/hour)
- Contract Type: Full-time, permanent
- Reporting To: Finance & Operations Manager
- Curator/Programme: N/A (role supports broader organizational financial operations)
- Other: Remote-first; expected to collaborate across teams; responsible for nonprofit accounting compliance and internal reporting
Position & Tasks
The Accounting Associate will be responsible for:
- Recording daily financial transactions and ensuring the accuracy of the ledgers
- Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconciling bank statements and credit card accounts
- Supporting donation processing and tracking, including fiscal sponsorship projects
- Assisting with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closings
- Preparing financial reports for internal stakeholders
- Supporting the preparation for internal and external audits
- Assisting with grant tracking and reporting the financial aspects of grant-funded projects
- Monitoring compliance with nonprofit GAAP standards
- Coordinating with other staff to ensure financial processes are efficient and accurate
- Identifying and resolving inconsistencies or errors in financial records
- Maintaining proper documentation and filing systems for all financial transactions
- Contributing to process improvements and financial system updates as needed
- Supporting the Finance & Operations Manager and Finance team with ad-hoc financial tasks and special projects

Eligibility
