Applications are now open for the 2025–2026 Adelaide Fringe studio residency at fab workshop.
This 11-month program will provide two visual artists with rent-free studio space and support from July 2025. Designed to foster experimentation, connection and sustained creative development, the residency includes access to tools, equipment, mentoring, and a public outcome during Adelaide Fringe 2026.
Eligibility
We welcome applications from artists at all career stages, whether you’re emerging, mid-career, or established. This residency is about providing time, space and resources to support diverse approaches to making.
Program Benefits & Awards
The Adelaide Fringe / fab Studio Residency offers:
- 11-month rent-free studio space, from 1st July 2025 to 31st May 2026
- A shared studio space for two artists of approximately 40m² with 24/7 access, plus shared kitchen
- Access and training to use on-site machinery, tools and equipment
- City fringe location in Kent Town
- Technical assistance
- Shared connections to a network of suppliers and services (materials and industrial fabrication)
The studio includes a wide range of equipment, both open access and available by negotiation including:
- 2 x coldsaws
- Horizontal bandsaw
- Drill presses
- Radial arm drill press
- Pedestal linisher
- MIG and TIG welders
- Air compressor
- Tube metal roller
Each resident is required to have their own Public Liability insurance before induction into the space. We can recommend purchasing this through Guildhouse or the National Association of Visual Arts (NAVA).
This residency has an expected exhibition outcome: each artist must register for an exhibition with Adelaide Fringe in March 2026. Successful recipients will also receive an artist fee of $1100 each, to cover the Fringe artist registration fee and other exhibition associated costs, generously supported by Adelaide Fringe.

- A short artist bio.
- A written statement explaining why you’re interested in the residency program and how mentorship in metal fabrication will benefit you at this stage in your career.
- An outline of your initial ideas for the 2026 Adelaide Fringe exhibition.

- Your CV
- Support material – up to 10 images and/or links to multimedia documentation
