Short Description
The 15th edition of ‘Art Busan 2026’ will be held at BEXCO from May 22 to 24, 2026, with a VIP preview on May 21. Art Busan is a place where major galleries, collectors, and art professionals from all over the world gather in Busan every year to create the flow of the Asian art market together. Since its first event in 2012, it has established itself as an international art fair representing Korea based on its steady growth and differentiated planning capabilities, and every year, leading domestic and foreign galleries participate in active work transactions and high-quality art exchanges. Busan, dubbed the “Miami of Korea,” is an ideal city that blends art, recreation, and cultural infrastructure. Based on the synergy with these regional characteristics, Art Busan is expanding the art experience across the city through ‘Busan Art Week’. Based on its international network, differentiated curation, and an art ecosystem connected to the city, Art Busan stands as a leading platform for connecting contemporary art today.
FAIR SECTORS & BOOTH TYPES
- CONNECT
CONNECT is a solo project section open to galleries partici-pating in the GALLERIES sector. In addition to their main booth, selected galleries are offered the opportunity to present one artist in a dedicated space—ranging from open areas within the fair to wall structures or partner venues.
Projects may include painting, sculpture, installation, media, or site-specific works, with full curatorial freedom. All proposals are reviewed and selected through an internal curatorial process.
CONNECT is an expanded platform that focuses on the artistic world of selected artists, creating new points of engagement with audiences and institutions.
2. TERRITORY
TERRITORY is a thematic exhibition section curated by an invited curator each year. It introduces selected works within a unified curatorial framework, drawing from participating galleries’ programs and, in some cases, collaborations with external artists or institutions.
The theme and curatorial direction are shared in advance with confirmed galleries, who may propose artists and works for consideration. As a curated platform beyond individual booths, TERRITORY offers a new context to spotlight artists through collective presentation and thematic dialogue.
In 2024, Henna Joo (Professor at Hongik University, former Senior Director at Arario Gallery) presented Herstory, highlighting dialogue between Asian and Western women artists. In 2025, Wonseok Koh (Director, Line Cultural Foundation; former Senior Curator, Seoul Museum of Art)
curated Fragmented World, Living Entities, addressing themes of space, subjectivity, and fragmentation in contemporary society.
