LAS Art Foundation is a non-profit arts organisation based in Berlin, launched in 2019 by transport entrepreneur Jan Fischer and art historian Bettina Kames, focused on exploring the intersection of art, science, and technology. The foundation's primary objective is to develop groundbreaking projects and experiences that envision the future, investigating topics ranging from artificial intelligence and quantum computing to ecology and biotechnology, and collaborates with artists, thinkers, and institutions to develop innovative projects across newly commissioned and existing exhibitions, performances, educational programming, publications, and research. The organization operated under the name Light Art Space before rebranding to LAS Art Foundation in April 2023. Its exhibitions and programming take place across various sites in Berlin, including Kraftwerk Berlin and Halle am Berghain, and the foundation is currently led by CEO and Co-Founder Bettina Kames alongside Head of Programme Carly Whitefield.

Assistant Curator — LAS Art Foundation
LAS Art Foundation is seeking an Assistant Curator to join its Curatorial team in Berlin. This is a research-led curatorial role for someone curious, collaborative, and highly organised, with a strong interest in contemporary art and the transformative impact of emerging technologies and new knowledge systems. Working closely with the Head of Programme and across the wider organisation, the Assistant Curator will contribute to the development and enrichment of programme strands, commissions, and public programmes through rigorous interdisciplinary research and project coordination. The role offers opportunities to shape new areas of inquiry, cultivate strategic partnerships, and contribute to LAS's evolving research methodologies and curatorial approaches.
The Role Overview
- Position Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
- Contract Type: One-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension

- Working Arrangement: Up to two days remote working per week
Position & Tasks
- Research and Programme Development — Undertake research across LAS's core areas of inquiry, including artificial intelligence, robotics and autonomous systems; interspecies relationships and planetary futures; quantum technologies and biotechnologies; emerging governance models; digital world-building and alterfuturisms; and perception and consciousness in relation to technological and societal change
- Research and Programme Development — Contribute to curatorial ideation and the development of new programme concepts informed by ongoing research, including identifying emerging ideas, practitioners, and developments relevant to LAS's programme
- Research and Programme Development — Build and maintain networks with artists, researchers, scientists, technologists, academic institutions, communities, and industry partners
- Research and Programme Development — Contribute to LAS's research methodologies and knowledge-sharing practices, including the use of emerging platforms and tools
- Research and Programme Development — Grow and maintain LAS's online resources
- Research and Programme Development — Prepare presentations and reference materials to support programme development
- Project Support — Support the planning and delivery of a range of programmes, including coordinating information and communications between internal teams, artists, external collaborators, and programme partners
- Project Support — Coordinate editorial timelines, contributors, and production schedules, and review project texts, including website, wall, and leaflet texts
- Project Support — Maintain accessibility standards across projects and develop associated assets
- Project Support — Support the planning and delivery of public programmes, talks, tours, workshops, online initiatives, and learning activities

Eligibility
- 2–4 years of professional experience working across contemporary art and technology
- Demonstrated experience undertaking interdisciplinary research and translating complex ideas into accessible texts and curatorial formats
- Experience supporting artist commissions, research and development projects, exhibitions, or public programmes
- Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills
- Strong organisational and project management abilities, with experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously
- Full professional fluency in both German and English, written and spoken
- Eligibility to work in Germany
- A deep curiosity about the intersection of art, science, technology, and society
- Ability to connect ideas across disciplines and identify emerging cultural and technological developments
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Confidence in building relationships across artistic, academic, and scientific communities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across teams
