bEam arts is an independent, self-funded contemporary arts organization and residency platform based in the historic cultural port city of Thessaloniki, Greece. Established to cultivate an uncompromised, process-driven space for creative exploration, the initiative acts as an incubator for contemporary visual culture and interdisciplinary practices. bEam arts International Artist Residency: Winter/Spring 2027 Call

The bEam arts International Artist Residency has officially opened applications for its upcoming Winter/Spring 2027 seasonal tracks, welcoming up to five contemporary practitioners into a collaborative communal ecosystem. The program is carefully structured to elevate self-directed studio work while providing artists with intentional tools to expand their international professional networks. Spanning blocks of one to two months, the residency balances independent production with intensive peer-to-peer activities. Residents benefit from continuous, personalized curatorial mentoring, structured studio critiques, group excursions to local creative landmarks, and collaborative workshops. The entire experience culminates in a fully managed physical group exhibition hosted at the close of each residency period, offering participants a commercial platform to sell their work to local collectors and art professionals.

Eligibility

  • Geographic Scope: Open globally to national, regional, and international contemporary creators from all backgrounds.
  • Format Alignments: Welcomes applications from individual artists as well as collaborative duos, provided the partnership demonstrates a verified history of joint studio production.
  • Commitment Requirement: Applicants must be fully available to participate in the entire duration of their selected calendar blocks.

Application Fee

  • Submission Cost: Free. There is no application processing or portfolio evaluation fee.
  • Participation Contribution Tiers: bEam arts is an independent organization that does not receive external financial support. Selected residents cover their baseline programmatic fees, with pricing organized by accommodation preferences:
    • With Accommodation Included: €1,850 per month (Collaborative duos pay an additional €250 supplement).
    • Without Accommodation (Studio Only): €1,000 per month (Collaborative duos pay an additional €150 supplement).

Application Requirements

Artists must complete the official electronic registry form, providing the following elements:

  1. Dossier Text: A professional artist CV, updated contact details, and a comprehensive biographical statement.
  2. Project Summary: A statement of intent outlining your active practice, proposed residency research goals, and preference regarding accommodation.
  3. Visual Media: A portfolio showcasing high-resolution documentation of previous works and past creative milestones.

How to Apply?

All applications, structural project files, and portfolio materials must be uploaded cleanly through the centralized web registration form. Submissions sent natively over email or via loose third-party file transfer platforms will not be reviewed.

Additional Details

Because bEam arts is a self-funded platform, selected artists are highly encouraged to secure external mobility grants from national arts councils, cultural foundations, or academic universities in their home countries. To assist in this process, bEam arts will provide accepted applicants with formal letters of invitation, customized funding documentation, itemized fee confirmations, and tailored program descriptions upon request.
