Organized by theCOLAB — a registered charity (no. 1209046) known for its inventive collaborations and large-scale artistic interventions beyond the white cube since 2011. theCOLAB creates opportunities for artists to develop ambitious, experimental work through site-responsive projects.

BODY and PLACE is a fully funded five-day drawing residency offering artists the opportunity to work intensively under the guidance of tutor Martin Morris, supported by workshops, exploratory drawing sessions, and work with a life model. Hosted at Owlpen Manor, a private 200-acre estate in Gloucestershire (GL11 5BZ).


Who can apply

  • Open to international artists at all career stages
  • Artists of all disciplines welcome (Visual Art, Drawing, Sculpture, Installation, Painting, etc.)
  • Applicants should have an established drawing practice (not necessarily life drawing)
  • Postgraduate students (MA+ level) may apply
  • Selected artists must attend in person; early arrival possible for long-distance travellers
  • Minimum 5 artists selected through open call

  • Dates: 1–5 June 2026 (arrival permitted 31 May)
  • Location: Owlpen Manor, Gloucestershire, UK
  • Tutor: Martin Morris (renowned educator, draughtsman & animator)
  • Includes accommodation, meals & materials (travel not funded)

Fees & Support

  • Entry fee: £20
