VisArts is a nonprofit arts center in Rockville, Maryland, dedicated to transforming individuals and communities through the visual arts. Through exhibitions, residencies, educational programs, and community events, VisArts supports contemporary artists at all stages of their careers. This residency is part of the Fleur and Charles Bresler Artist Residency Program, with an optional collaborative extension in partnership with Montgomery College.

VisArts invites professional artists and artist teams to apply for its four-month residency program, offering studio space, a solo exhibition, a stipend, and community engagement opportunities. An optional fall residency includes a collaborative project with Montgomery College students, offering additional funding and an exhibition. Artists working in all media are welcome (excluding hazardous materials).

Duration: 4 months (with optional 3-week student collaboration during Fall residency)
Eligibility:
- Open to professional artists or collaborative teams aged 18+
- Undergraduate students are not eligible
- All visual and interdisciplinary media welcome (no hazardous materials)
Costs/Funding:
- \$2,000 stipend for the standard residency (paid over 4 months)
- Optional Fall AiR: Additional \$3,000 stipend, materials support up to \$1,000, and exhibition at Montgomery College

- Solo exhibition at VisArts
- Opportunities for community and professional engagement
- Support for Montgomery College project if selected for Fall residency
Expectations & Outcomes:
- Minimum 16 hours/week in the studio
- Participation in artist talks, open studios, and engagement events
- Completion of a solo exhibition
- Artists applying to the AiR must submit a student collaboration project proposal
