Operating out of a 110-year-old historic house in the neighborhood of Santa María la Ribera in Mexico City, Centro Cultural Casa Hechale is a cultural center dedicated to artistic research, professional training, and cross-border exchange. Connecting artists across Mexico, the United States, and the wider international community, the center brings together a black box theatre, rehearsal rooms, reading spaces (Salon CHÁ), the Front Gallery, and specialized development initiatives like the Actor's Lab and Playwright's Lab.

Centro Cultural Casa Hechale has opened applications for its international residency program supporting research, writing, rehearsal, experimentation, and the development of new or existing artistic work. Based in Mexico City, the residency offers artists a focused period to test ideas, develop scripts, explore choreographic movements, design scenographic concepts, or advance interdisciplinary moving-image and live-performance projects. Centered on process rather than finished production outputs, the program connects resident artists with local audiences and the broader Mexico City cultural scene.

- Career Stage & Age: Open to emerging and established artists aged 18 and older.
- Format: Open to individual artists, duos, and small collaborative teams.

Program Benefits & Support
- Workspace & Facilities: Scheduled access to black box theatre spaces, rehearsal and reading rooms, and the Front Gallery.
- Mentorship & Advising: Individual meetings with the artistic team and an assigned artistic advisor.
- Logistical & Community Support: On-site accommodation (private or shared room with shared bathrooms), orientation and practical support from a Community Manager, and introductions to the local artistic network.
- Public Engagement & Documentation: Weekly cultural activity invitations, opportunities to share work-in-progress during an Open House event, and residency documentation and communication support.
- Grant & Institutional Support: Official acceptance letters provided to admitted residents to assist in securing external funding.
Fee Structure & Scholarship Opportunities
- Application Fee: 100% free to apply ($0 submission fee).
- Standard Residency Program Fees (USD per artist, before scholarship):
- Two-Week Residency: Private Room: $1,900 USD | Shared Room: $1,300 USD
- Four-Week Residency: Private Room: $2,800 USD | Shared Room: $2,200 USD
- Scholarship Financial Support Tiers:
- Casa Hechale Scholarship: Applicants for 4-week residencies may request up to $700 USD in direct fee reduction.
- Latin America Regional Support: Artists born and currently residing in Latin America may be considered for an additional $500 USD in support (subject to availability and residency conditions).
Note: Combined scholarships can provide up to $1,200 USD in total fee reductions applied directly toward program costs.
