Cataloguer, Film Collections and Digital Assets
MoMA is seeking a Cataloguer, Film Collections and Digital Assets to join its Film Department in New York. The position focuses on maintaining accurate, structured, and usable information about film and digital media collections within the Museum’s collection management system.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Film Department staff, Media Conservation, and Digital Content teams. Responsibilities include cataloguing acquisitions, creating and editing records and metadata, identifying gaps in collection information, maintaining cataloguing standards, and supporting the identification of titles for MoMA’s streaming platform.
This is a full-time, on-site position requiring attendance at the Museum five days per week.

Position & Tasks
The Cataloguer will clean and organize collection data, create and edit records relating to digital collection materials, catalogue new acquisitions, and update archival records when information changes. The role also involves reviewing existing files, following up on missing information, and maintaining policies and procedures for film cataloguing in The Museum System (TMS).
The position requires collaboration with Digital Content and Media Conservation teams, including the adjustment of metadata used to identify titles for MoMA’s streaming platform. The successful candidate will also maintain standards for motion-picture cataloguing and perform related duties within the Film Department.

Eligibility
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in film and media collection cataloguing, or equivalent experience.
Candidates should have general knowledge of motion-picture history, relational databases, data-entry standards, digital media assets, data processing, and fundamental digital-preservation concepts. Familiarity with digital image, audio, video, and text formats is required.
Experience with Mac, Windows, or Unix/Linux environments and command-line tools such as MediaInfo and ExifTool is expected. Familiarity with TMS or comparable moving-image cataloguing databases is also relevant.
The position requires strong organizational, analytical, collaborative, and data-accuracy skills.
