Short Description

The European Center for Contemporary Artistic Actions (CEAAC) is a nationally recognized center for contemporary art that supports, produces, and promotes contemporary creation for all audiences. Its location at the crossroads of Europe is central to its artistic and cultural mission, which explores themes related to the circulation of images, the vernacular, and public health.

Since 1995, the CEAAC—which played a pioneering role in installing artworks in public spaces in Alsace in its early days—has been operating from a former glass and porcelain shop in Strasbourg, housed in an Art Nouveau building designated as a Historical Monument.

The CEAAC organizes an average of three exhibitions per year (both solo and group shows), accompanied by a multidisciplinary cultural program (lectures, performances, readings, concerts, etc.) and off-site projects throughout the metropolitan, departmental, and regional areas. It also conducts artistic outreach activities for school and extracurricular audiences, as well as for vulnerable individuals.

Additionally, the CEAAC develops artist and researcher residencies through an extensive European institutional and cultural network. Its exchange program includes partnerships in Germany (basis e.V., Frankfurt), Spain (Hangar, Barcelona), Hungary (Budapest Gallery), Italy (IUNO, Rome), and the Czech Republic (MeetFactory and the French Institute in Prague). Since 2023, these cross-disciplinary research and creation residencies have been complemented by short-term curatorial residencies (Hop) and an invitation-only production residency.
