Short Description:

The Stanley Picker Gallery Curatorship is an 18-month full-time curatorial position at Kingston University’s Stanley Picker Gallery. The role involves leading and delivering an innovative exhibition and engagement program in the lead up to the gallery’s 30th anniversary.

Eligibility:

  • Must be eligible to work in the UK under the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 (or hold necessary visa/rights)
  • A “hands-on” practical approach is required.
  • Experience in curating exhibitions, commissioning work, public engagement, programme development is implied (from the nature of the role)
  • Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and environmental responsibility in gallery practice.
  • The role requires presence on campus for most of the working week (i.e. not fully remote)

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Curating and commissioning new works and exhibitions for the gallery.
  • Planning and delivering public engagement programs (events, education, outreach) to reach diverse audiences (students, staff, local community, beyond).
  • Managing the gallery’s program over the 18-month period, building its reputation locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a small team; being “hands-on” across operational, curatorial, and administrative tasks.
  • Ensuring practices reflect equality, diversity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability.

Salary:

The starting salary is £39,407 per annum for a full-time (37 hours/week) position.
