Short Description:

The program is a Diploma in Fine Arts / Sculpture, a full-time course intended to train independent artists. Students explore materials, techniques, theory and develop their own artistic practice. It is equivalent (in its level) to a Master’s degree, though structured as a “first degree.”

Curriculum Highlights:

  • Duration is 10 semesters including the diploma project / final work.
  • First 2 semesters are shared foundational courses together with all Fine Arts students (painting, sculpture, stage & costume design).
  • After the foundation, more specialized work in sculpture: practice in different media/materials, individual & group tutorials, theoretical & practical projects.
  • Regular exhibition opportunities and external competitions.
  • Professors are practicing artists; visiting lecturers and adjunct faculty contribute.

Entry Requirements:

  • A secondary school leaving certificate equivalent (e.g. Abitur). Ability to demonstrate exceptional artistic talent.
  • Submission of a portfolio: At least 25 of your own artistic works, up to 30 pages (docu­menting drawings, sculptures, photos, collages, audiovisual works, sketchbooks etc.). Audiovisual samples limited to ~5 minutes.
  • A motivation letter, CV.
  • German language proficiency for instruction: B2.2 (e.g. DSH1 / Test DaF 3) is required.

Application Deadlines:

  • Online registration & application for Fine Arts / Sculpture opens Nov 1 and closes January 5, 2026 (12:00 noon CET) for the winter semester intake beginning in October.
  • After application, portfolio submissions, entrance exam takes place (mid-February dates for the exam).
