Short Description
The ESC 2035 open call for contemporary artists is here! For the fifth consecutive year, we invite artists to envision the future while deeply engaging with the challenges of the present. At its core, ESC symbolizes both an escape from conventional thinking and a leap into uncharted possibilities. Since its inception in 2020, ESC has been a platform for bold, speculative ideas that push the boundaries of contemporary art, exploring the evolving relationship between technology, nature, and humanity. Each edition fosters innovation, curiosity, and transformation, offering artists the opportunity to share their unique visions of what lies ahead.
As we look ahead to 2035, ESC remains committed to pushing the boundaries of imagination while addressing pressing questions surrounding ethics, ecology, artificial tools, mindfulness, and interconnectedness. This year’s theme, ‘a decade ahead,’ invites artists to delve into the complexities of the future and reflect on the possibilities of tomorrow through their work.
We ask, not answer: What happens when wild animals and insects adapt to life as pets? When bots start talking to bots, do we lose our place? If AI takes over creativity, does that free us to evolve inward? As human life shifts into virtual spaces, how do we stay rooted in the world around us? Will the cities of the future be green enough for well-being, or will we have to rethink how we live with nature? Can technology bring us closer to our bodies, or does it always pull us further away?
We’re thrilled to open submissions for ESC 2035, inviting artists to reflect on the dynamic bond between technology, nature, and humanity. Share your vision and present innovative perspectives on the challenges of today and the potential of tomorrow.
