The European Media Art Platform (EMAP) is a European network supporting artistic production, collaboration, and exchange in digital and media arts. The residency programme is co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe programme and brings together established media-art institutions across Europe. The EMAP consortium provides artists with access to host organisations, technical facilities, professional networks, and opportunities for presentation and exhibition.

European Media Art Platform (EMAP) Residencies 2027
EMAP Residencies 2027 invites artists, artist duos, collectives, and other artistic collaborations working in digital, media, robotic, and bio art to apply for a two-month production residency at one of the EMAP host organisations.
Collaboration is a central requirement of the programme. Applicants must apply as a duo or collective, propose a collaborative project with a partner of their choice, or develop a project with a collaborator local to the selected host institution. Collaborating artists do not need to be confirmed when the application is submitted.
Artists apply to the EMAP consortium as a whole and indicate their preferred host organisations in order of priority.

Eligibility
The programme is open to applicants who are EU residents or taxpayers in an EU Member State, as well as residents or taxpayers of eligible non-EU countries participating in the Creative Europe programme.
Undergraduate and Master’s students are not eligible. PhD candidates and emerging artists of any age and academic background may apply.
Eligible applicants include individual artists working collaboratively, artist duos, collectives, and other artistic collaborations.
Program Benefits & Awards
- Two-month production residency at one EMAP host organisation.
- €4,000 grant for the applying artist, including subsistence.
- €2,000 grant for collaborating artist(s), or €6,000 total for an artist duo.
- €4,000 project budget.
- Accommodation provided by the host organisation.
- Travel expenses covered by the host according to EU ceilings.
- Access to technical facilities and/or media labs.
- Invitation to the EMAP kick-off conference, taking place on 11–12 March 2027 in Gijón, Spain.
- Professional presentation opportunities, exhibition tours, and potential exhibitions with EMAP partners.
