Short Description
The European Music Council (EMC), the regional group for Europe of the International Music Council (IMC), exists to support the interests of its 70+ member organisations. It is the broadest network for music organisations across Europe and is dedicated to the development and promotion of all genres and types of music. The EMC initiates and organises cooperation projects, seminars, workshops and conferences on a European level, and is active in the field of cultural policy.
Programme Assistant
to assist the team with the implementation of the EMC work plan, as well as to contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the organisation, with a particular focus on EMC’s sustainability policy.
The main tasks of the Programme Assistant will include:
- Assisting with the administration and implementation of EMC projects and special programmes
- Assisting with the organisation of events, such as the European Forum on Music, EMC Board meetings, online and offline workshops, working groups and other
- Logistical support: flight, accommodation, visas and other travel bookings
- Collect and produce information and communication material for EMC projects in close collaboration with the EMC Communication Officer
- Assisting with the editing and proofreading of the EMC’s publications, including project reports
- Collecting resources (studies, research and any other relevant publication) for the Resources section on the EMC website
- Assisting with the implementation of the EMC’s fellowship programme
- Participating in international music events such as showcase events and conferences
- Other duties that contribute to the smooth running of the organisation (including administrative tasks)
You should be an open-minded, dedicated person with qualities such as:
- Either a university degree in a relevant subject or significant experience working in a comparable environment
- Prior experience in arts administration (project management/event management)
- An interest in/knowledge of music and cultural policies at the European level
- An interest in/knowledge of sustainability topics
- A very good command of English and German; other languages would be an asset
- Excellent computer skills in MS Office/Teams, experience with Typo3, WordPress, FileMaker or Adobe Creative Suite would be an asset
- The ability to prioritise workload and to work independently on individual projects
- The willingness to work flexible hours (e.g. evenings, weekends), and to travel

At EMC you will join a dynamic and enthusiastic team in Bonn, in the middle of the Rhine area and in close proximity to Cologne.
Average work time for this full-time position is 39 hours per week, according to the German tariff system. This junior position is limited to 36 months, preferably starting in November 2025, with a gross salary of approximately. 3.300 Euro/month, depending on the candidate’s qualification.
