Exhibition Associate – Science Gallery Bengaluru (Full-Time Role)

This opportunity is a full-time professional position focused on the development, coordination, and delivery of exhibitions across multiple formats, including gallery-based exhibitions, travelling exhibitions, and programme-led spatial experiences.

The role sits at the intersection of programming and production, requiring candidates to translate curatorial and research-driven concepts into executable exhibition formats. It involves working across teams to ensure that exhibitions are conceptually coherent, logistically feasible, and delivered to a high standard across diverse institutional and public contexts.

The position is designed for mid-level professionals with experience in exhibition-making, cultural programming, or production coordination within arts, museum, festival, or interdisciplinary environments.

The Role Overview

  • Job Title: Exhibition Associate

Position & Tasks

1. Exhibition Development and Coordination

  • Liaise with partner institutions to develop and adapt exhibitions
  • Coordinate technical, spatial, and installation requirements
  • Support research, shortlisting, and selection of artists and projects
  • Coordinate between curatorial and advisory teams

2. Cross-Team Coordination and Delivery

  • Work across Programmes, Production, Design, and Operations teams
  • Manage communication between internal and external stakeholders
  • Track workflows, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Ensure alignment between conceptual intent and execution

3. Bridging Programmes and Production

  • Translate curatorial and research concepts into spatial exhibition formats
  • Collaborate with production teams on feasibility and execution quality
  • Support activation of exhibitions through public engagement programmes
  • Contribute to workshops, talks, and participatory formats

4. Travelling Exhibitions (Inbound and Outbound)

Outbound responsibilities:

  • Develop exhibition proposals and partner pitches
  • Build budgets and assess logistical feasibility
  • Identify and coordinate with international partners and venues

Inbound responsibilities:

  • Onboard travelling exhibitions from partner institutions
  • Coordinate spatial and technical adaptations
  • Ensure contextual adaptation for local audiences
5. Programme-led Exhibition Formats
  • Develop pop-ups, modular exhibitions, and experimental formats
  • Translate public programming (talks, workshops, research) into spatial installations
  • Support rapid prototyping and iterative exhibition development

6. Planning, Budgeting and Systems

  • Maintain exhibition tracking systems across all stages
  • Support budgeting and vendor coordination
  • Develop internal documentation systems and production workflows
  • Ensure consistency in project tracking and reporting tools

Eligibility

Applicants should ideally have:

Essential Requirements
  • 2–4 years of professional experience in exhibitions, programming, production, or cultural institutions
  • Proven experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects
  • Strong project management and coordination skills
  • Ability to translate curatorial ideas into spatial execution
  • Understanding of exhibition design and spatial planning
  • Experience working across teams and external partners
  • Knowledge of budgeting, production workflows, and vendor coordination
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High organizational ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, adaptive environments
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with travelling or touring exhibitions
  • Proposal writing and concept development experience
