Short Description:
Initiated, designed and organized by the Eyes Wide Open association (the cultural
production arm of The Eyes label), the Eyes Wide Open 1st photo book grant program is
aimed at photographers wishing to propose a 1st book project with the support of an
independent French publisher.
The Eyes Wide Open 1st photobook grant program is designed to support photographers’
first books and the publishers who accompany them. It is divided into 3 categories, each
meeting a specific need:
- SAIF grant for a French photographer or a photographer living in France
- Grant for a woman photographer of any nationality
- Grant for a photographer from a “Global South” country (Africa, Caribbean, Southeast Asia,
Latin America, Middle East).
How to Apply:
Completed online form (please attach a copy of your answers to your application, in PDF
format or as a screenshot).
Artistic file
Presentation of current project, including concept, existing texts, pre-selection of images,
authors and their biographies. (PDF format maximum 25 Mo)
Editorial and design brief (PDF format)
The statement of intent summarizes your project and your intentions. It comprises a
maximum of 7,500 characters, or around 3 pages. It is completed by a selection of images.
Any appendices (visual pre-mock-ups, links, sketches, plans, cv of the associated graphic
designer, etc.) required for a better understanding of the project may be added, up to the 25
MB limit of the file.
The presentation of a mock-up is encouraged but not mandatory.

Provisional timetable
Estimated budget (an explicit line for royalties must be included, please specify income and
expenses).
Quotations for work to be carried out by proposed suppliers.
Letter of commitment from an independent French publisher.
In the case of partnerships and/or co-publishing, supporting documents and written
commitments from the partners.
SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications must be sent electronically (in the form of a unique wetransfer link) to
info@theeyeswideopen.eu
Applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm on May 18th, 2025. The application
must be named as follows: NAME_FIRST_NAME_PROJECT
Submission of an incomplete file, or one that does not comply with the rules set out in the
“artistic file”, will invalidate participation. Entries received after the deadline will not be
considered.
Program Benefits / Awards
A: The Eyes Wide Open 1st Photo Book Bursaries provide €5,000 each to support 3 book projects by a photographer and his/her publisher .
Eligibility:
The Eyes Wide Open 1st Photo Book Grants are open to all photographers, regardless of age, who wish to propose a 1st book project with the support of an independent French publisher.
The program is divided into 3 categories, each responding to a specific need:
– SAIF grant dedicated to a French photographer or a photographer living in France
– Grant dedicated to a woman photographer of any nationality
– Grant dedicated to a photographer from a territory in the Global South (Africa, Caribbean, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Middle East).
