Short Description
The Foundwork Artist Prize is our annual juried award started in 2019 to recognize outstanding emerging and mid-career artists working in any media. Honorees receive unrestricted $10,000 grants and studio visits with our jurors who include acclaimed curators, gallerists, and artists. In addition to the honoree, three artists per year are also named to our short list. The Prize is open to artists worldwide with limited exceptions and our selection process takes place each fall.
Eligibility
The 2025 Foundwork Artist Prize is open to artists residing in any location worldwide, except for certain restricted countries, states, and provinces which we have listed below. Artists working in any media are eligible.
In addition, in order to be eligible, an artist must:
(1) be an individual who is at least eighteen (18) years old and otherwise able to enter into a binding contract;
(2) not be a Foundwork employee, contractor, or their relative;
(3) be able to use our website and participate in the Prize in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations of the U.S. and any other applicable jurisdiction;
(4) maintain a published artist profile on our website, with at least six (6) published artworks and an artist statement on your profile page, continuously throughout the 2025 selection period: 5:00 pm PT, September 26, 2025 – 5:00 pm PT, December 31, 2025.
Please note that residents of the following countries, states, and provinces are not eligible for the Foundwork Artist Prize: Argentina; Arizona (US State); Bosnia and Herzegovina; Bulgaria; Cuba; Iran; Kosovo; Latvia; Macedonia; North Korea; Quebec (Canadian Province); Russia; Saudi Arabia; Serbia; Sudan; Syria; and United Arab Emirates (UAE). These geographic restrictions are for regulatory reasons beyond our control and we appreciate your understanding.
How to Apply
To be considered for the 2025 Foundwork Artist Prize, an artist must register for a membership on Foundwork (if you don’t have one already) and must maintain a published profile on the Foundwork website, with at least 6 artworks and an artist statement, throughout the entire 2025 selection period: 5:00 pm PT September 26, 2025—5:00 pm PT December 31, 2025.

Entry Fee
Please note that artist memberships on Foundwork have a $6 monthly subscription, which starts with a 30-day free trial for new members and can be canceled at any time.
