Fumetto is Switzerland's leading international comic festival, held annually each spring in Lucerne. Founded in 1992 as the Luzern Comix Festival, it adopted the name Fumetto in 2003 and has grown over more than 30 years from a regional event into one of Europe's most significant platforms for comics as an art form. The festival presents around 8 main exhibitions and roughly 50 satellite exhibitions across venues throughout the city of Lucerne and its surrounding area, drawing about 30,000 visits and featuring both established international comic artists and emerging talent from Switzerland. The annual Fumetto comic competition, of which "Blubb" is the latest edition, is one of the festival's longest-running programs, giving comic creators of all ages the chance to measure their work against an international field.

The Fumetto Comic Festival's international comic competition returns for a new edition under the theme "Blubb" — an onomatopoeic prompt evoking cheerful schools of fish, 1990s spinach advertisements, air or real-estate bubbles, deep-sea diving, and melting glaciers. Participants are invited to interpret the theme freely and without restriction on their imagination. The competition exhibition will be shown at the Gletschergarten Lucerne, integrated into its historical exhibition setting alongside the venue's own curious objects in the Swiss House.

"Blubb" (Bubble/Blub) — an onomatopoeic theme; the organizer cites playful associations like fish, air or real-estate bubbles, deep-sea diving, and melting glaciers as open, non-exhaustive starting points.

Eligibility
- Category 1: ages 18 and up
- Category 2: ages 13 to 17
- Category 3: up to age 12
- Age is determined as of the submission deadline, December 1, 2026
- Only one entry per person
- School classes are welcome to participate as a class; individual works are then judged separately by the jury
- Both analog and digital comics are accepted; the use of AI is excluded

- Best-scenario prize (shortlist-wide, across all categories): CHF 444
- Category 2 and Category 3: prizes awarded as goods/merchandise (Sachpreise) rather than cash
- Public/audience prize: determined by festival visitors, awarded as a goods/merchandise prize
- Shortlisted works (45 total) are exhibited in original form at the Fumetto Comic Festival Lucerne 2027; works not selected for the shortlist are included in the exhibition digitally

Additional Details
- Fumetto compiles a shortlist of 45 works from all submissions; a specialist jury selects the winners from this shortlist
- Last year's winners are excluded from the podium but may still submit and be shortlisted again
- During the festival, the public votes on the audience prize
- Shortlisted works are requested from participants after jury deliberation and must be sent to Fumetto as originals by mail; shipping costs are borne by the participants, and works are returned after the festival
- Submitted works are used exclusively for the festival exhibition and for presenting the competition on the festival website, including beyond the festival's run
- Submitted works are not insured; Fumetto accepts no liability for loss or damage
