Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition & Brooklyn Mushroom are proud to announce an open call for the international juried art exhibition “FUNGI.”
Fungi, one of the most mysterious and least understood realms in biology, holds the power to influence, sustain, and even kill us. This multimedia art show brings together diverse creative expressions — including, but not limited to, visual art, sculpture, sound art, video, and performance — all inspired by the world of fungi.
Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC) is an artist-run 501(c)3 nonprofit located in a Civil War–era warehouse in Red Hook, Brooklyn. With 25,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space, BWAC offers professional development, public engagement, and exhibition opportunities for artists of all levels. Visit bwac.org to learn more.
Brooklyn Mushroom is a platform for arts, culture, and knowledge-sharing around all things mycological. Their most recent Fungi Festival drew over 1,200 attendees.
Eligibility
We welcome both emerging and seasoned artists to apply. The show will exhibit approximately 40 works. Join us in exploring a realm that bridges art, science, psychedelics, and biology.
- Open to all artists aged 18 or older
- All media accepted: traditional and non-traditional
- Work must be original and available for sale (No NFS or POR)
- No crafts, kit work, or reproductions unless part of a mixed-media piece
- Oversized or overweight works only accepted at BWAC’s discretion
How to Apply

Entry Fee
- $35 for up to 3 images; $5 per additional image. Brooklyn Mushroom takes zero of the application fee. The fee is used to sustain BWAC.
- All fees are non-refundable and support the nonprofit production
- Artists are responsible for all shipping and return labels
- $30 handling fee (waived for Airfloat boxes)
- BWAC retains a 30% commission on sold artwork
