Short Description:
Gallery Ring announces a new contest — BLUE!
The artwork must be driven by the colour blue; it must occupy the majority of the territory
or be the focal point, purpose, subject or meaning of the composition.
BLUE has been created in celebration of Gallery Ring’s very own, unique SAPPHIRE AWARD.
5 SAPPHIRE Awards will be presented in this single contest.
This only happens once a year so if you have been coveting the dazzling SAPPHIRE Award,
then now is your chance! You cannot win this exceptional award anywhere else
— it is exclusively offered right here at Gallery Ring.
Application Requirements:
Artist Statement
(recommended but not required)
– maximum 150 words
– must be written in the first person and should explain the artist’s purpose
and inspiration for his or her overall practice or for the pieces submitted.
(it does NOT list the life story of the artist – that is a biography)
– will not be a factor during the jurying process but will be used in Award Pages
for the top winners and could be included in the show
– will be edited if they surpass the word limit or if they are structurally and/or grammatically incorrect
Image requirements
– only 1 artwork and 1 frontal viewpoint per image is permissible
– cannot exceed 2MB
– in jpg format
– files must be labeled as Last name-Title of Art.jpg (example: Jones-Sunrise.jpg)
– cropped to show only the artwork – frames, mat, other backgrounds and watermarks are unacceptable
– clear, without glares and in focus
Eligibility:
– must be 18 years or older
– can be emerging or established
– must be able to communicate in English or Spanish
Program Benefits or Awards:
Many awards are available: Best In Show (wins free-entry voucher), Golden Trio Award, Diamond Awards of Excellence, 5 Sapphire Awards, Crystal Awards, Awards of Merit and Honourable Mention Awards. All winners receive a digital Award Certificate and top winners also receive a special Award Page announcing the news, which is ideal for use on websites, clientele newsletter lists and social media.
Top winning artwork will be featured in a special Winners Video on Gallery Ring’s Youtube channel
and 3D Rotation Gallery on the home page of the site.
