Organizer Information

The Grange Projects is an artist‑led residency organization based in a rural Georgian rectory in Great Cressingham, Norfolk, United Kingdom. It is run by artists Nicola Streeten and John Plowman (with support from their daughter), and aims to offer a generous, supportive, and flexible environment for creatives of all disciplines. Residencies take place within the house, workshops, and surrounding grounds, emphasizing collaboration, mutual support, and creative exchange.

Title & Description

2026 IN HOUSE Programme — The Grange Projects
This is a short‑term residency option designed for creatives who may not be able to commit to longer stays. It offers four sessions of 3‑night residencies between April and August 2026. The program is intended for artists who may already have engaged with The Grange before, or those who cannot commit to a 10‑day stay, but still wish to benefit from a concentrated, supportive, and communal creative environment. The residency offers not only time and space for creation or reflection, but also an optional personalized mentoring session with Nicola Streeten and John Plowman, leveraging their decades of experience to support and guide your practice. The emphasis is on providing flexibility, short-term immersion, peer feedback, and critical creative time.

Categories

The Grange Projects welcomes multi‑disciplinary practices. Eligible disciplines include (but are not limited to): fine arts, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, mixed media, illustration, comics, graphic novels, photography, writing, sound, film/video, performance, design, textile art, dance, curating, and other creative practices. The residency values diversity of media and encourages cross‑disciplinary exchange among residents.

Eligibility

  • Creative practitioners of any discipline, including multidisciplinary or hybrid practices.
  • Preference given to applicants who have previously participated in The Grange’s “In Residence” programme — though this may not always be strictly required.
  • Artists who need shorter residencies (cannot commit to 10-day stay) or wish to revisit The Grange for focused work or reflection.
  • Applicants should be ready to engage with the house’s values of generosity, reciprocity, shared living, and peer exchange.

Program Benefits & Awards

Additional Details

  • The IN HOUSE programme was created as a pilot initiative to accommodate creatives who cannot commit to longer residencies or who simply need shorter bursts of time to recharge, reflect, or progress their practice.
  • The Grange Projects values generosity, reciprocity, mutual respect, inclusion, and community — residents are expected to uphold these values throughout their stay.
  • If you have mobility or health constraints, The Grange acknowledges some access limitations (old building, no ground-floor showers) and encourages applicants to discuss needs in advance.
