The City of Melbourne is seeking a visionary Head of Programming for its Arts House team, responsible for curating and delivering innovative, inclusive, and boundary-pushing artistic experiences. This permanent, full-time role (38 hours per week) is a leadership position designed to shape creative programming across a dynamic portfolio of exhibitions, events, and public engagements in one of Melbourne’s most culturally vibrant settings.

Salary Range: $118,141 – $132,962 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation

Key responsibilities include the independent conception and realization of exhibitions, international follow-up stations, developing marketing and public engagement strategies, securing sponsorships and donations, and fostering didactic and community outreach initiatives.
The position is aligned with the City’s Creative Programming Framework, Creative Strategy, and specific inclusion and equity plans (e.g., Disability Inclusion Action Plan, Equity-Builder anti-racism plan).
Responsibilities:
Lead the creative vision and strategic planning for programming at Arts House.
Develop, curate, and implement exhibitions and public events that reflect contemporary and interdisciplinary artistic practices.
Oversee the production of exhibition publications and marketing materials.
Secure donations, sponsorships, and other funding opportunities.
Foster community engagement and educational outreach through innovative programming and targeted didactic formats.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support the museum’s mission and further the City of Melbourne’s cultural goals.
