Hub Feenix is a center for art and well-being established in the historic Meltola sanatorium. Run by a non-profit cooperative, the organization aims to create an environment where life, creativity, and the joy of continuous learning can flourish. The massive 15,000 m² building features artist studios, a concert hall, and wellness spaces, all surrounded by beautiful pine forests.

Applications are open for the Hub Feenix Artist Residency.

This residency provides a serene, rural retreat for creators looking to immerse themselves in their practice. Located just a short drive from Karjaa in southern Finland, the historic building offers an abundance of inspiring workspaces. Although there is a vibrant and active community within the house, the sheer size of the facility and its location in the middle of nature make it incredibly easy to find a quiet place to concentrate. Residencies range from 1 to 3 months, though former artists highly recommend a minimum of 2 months to fully explore the massive house and surrounding area.

Eligibility:

  • Who: Open to cultural practitioners across all disciplines (including painters, sculptors, printmakers, photographers, and multimedia artists).
  • Scope: Open to applicants from Finland and abroad.
  • Requirements: Because this is a large, active community house, applicants must have basic proficiency in English or Finnish for practical, everyday communication.

Program Costs:

  • Standard Fee: €700 EUR / month (Includes accommodation plus a separate workspace OR access to all workshop facilities).
  • Accommodation Only: €500 EUR / month (If no dedicated workspace is needed).
  • Upgrades/Extras: A limited number of bedrooms with private toilets are available for an extra €50 EUR / month.
